Four People Shot at Howe Community Park – Unauthorized Event Ends in Shooting





Saturday night, an unlawful gathering of several hundred people at the Howe Park area in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento erupted in gunfire when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots filled the air as Sacramento County law enforcement were actively removing people from the park.

What Happened

At approximately 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department got reports concerning persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at Howe Park. A second report reported a potential physical confrontation and subjects running away.

Air support was utilized and swept the area but could not find the reported fight.

At the same time, several hundred people had congregated at Howe Park for what authorities described as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over loudspeakers.

While law enforcement cleared the gathering, 20 to 25 gunshots were fired — causing hundreds to flee in a panic.

Those Injured

Four individuals — one female and three males, all believed to be in their 20s — were taken to nearby hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one suffered website injuries classified as minor. All four victims were stable. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire responded to the scene and triaged victims at the park.

At the Scene
